This Rhododendron prefers acidic soils and a part sun to part shade situation, dappled light is ideal, do try to keep out of full sun. Care: When planting if possible back fill with acidic organic matter. Mulch with similar material each spring. Rhododendrons rarely require much pruning, really only the cutting back of dead wood. Dwarf Rhododendron Ramapo AGM An exceptionally hardy American hybrid that we have nick-named Rambo on the nursery! It has good violet blue flowers in April, and attractive blue-green leaves all growing season. It is so tough it will take full sun. Height 40-60cm in 10 years. Unusually for a dwarf variety this plant is heat tolerant. Is a tough plant that we are rather fond of. Rhododendron Fastuosum Flore Pleno AGM Trusses of semi-double pale bluish-mauve flowers, with green-brown flare that is free flowering in late May-June. This is one of our favourites because the flowers last well, especially in some shade. It is fast growing, vigorous and ideal for hedging/screening. An excellent well mannered plant which we recommend to use instead of Rhododendron ponticum (the wild variety) which is too invasive. Height 180cm in 10 years. Rhododendron arboreum This plant has magnificent trusses of pink flowers in March-April. It has distinctive silvery to red indumentum on the underside of the large leathery leaves. The National flower of Nepal that will become a large tree in time. It makes a majestic plant that has the ability to re-grow from both the base and the trunk after a hard winter or when the overhead canopy is removed. Height 150cm in 10 years. Characteristically, as with some species, this plant does need woodland shelter and it does have lovely foliage but you will need to wait about six years before it flowers, we think the wait is worthwhile! Features Size: 3 litres Recommended for wonderful foliage. 71Easy to Grow range>Easy to grow in mild areas. Ideal position: sheltered woodland. Habit: tree-like.
